The New York Times reports this is the agenda for Carter's body:
  • 1. Embalmed and stored at Hancock Funeral Home, Plains, Georgia, then -
    2. Moved to Atlanta, Georgia and lays in state at the Georgia Capitol for a bit, then -
    3. Moved a few miles down the street and lays in repose at the Cater Center for a bit, then -
    4. Moved to Washington, D.C. and lays in state at the U.S. Capitol for a bit, then -
    5. Goes down the street for the funeral at the National Cathedral, then -
    6. Flies back to Plains, Georgia for burial in his backyard
The poor guy is dead and they're still making him go to half-a-dozen events next week.

Jimmy Carter was a good man and a faithful servant of the Lord. One of his most enduring traits, to me anyway, is his humility and his willingness to serve. Frankly, after the US Presidency, Carter has done MORE for fellow humans than all Presidents COMBINED that followed him (after their term in Office) .

Jimmy Carter helped to restore some confidence into the Office of the Presidency after the shameful actions of Richard Nixon. Carter had some noteable failures, in particular, the Economy (Inflation & Stagflation, BUT that is NOT ALL his fault) and the Iran Hostages for some 444 days.
March 26, 1979 - In a ceremony in Washington, DC, Egypt and Israel formally sign a peace treaty ending 31 years of war between them. The successful Camp David Accords are one of the highlights of Carter’s presidency.

Nov. 4, 1979 - The US Embassy in Tehran, Iran, is stormed and diplomatic staff are taken hostage. Carter’s inability to successfully negotiate the release of the hostages becomes a major political liability. The hostages are released on January 20, 1981, the day of Ronald Reagan’s inauguration.
...CNN source, cited below

After leaving Office, he did great work with Habitat for Humanities. He was a Sunday School teacher at his church in Plains, GA. He also won the 2002 Nobel Peace Prize. More info & Link below for those who want to learn more.
The Nobel Peace Prize 2002

NobelPrize.org
https://www.nobelprize.org/prizes/peace/2002/summary/
The Nobel Peace Prize 2002 was awarded to Jimmy Carter for his decades of untiring effort to find peaceful solutions to international conflicts.
and more:
Most of the attention given to former President Jimmy Carter’s domestic record has focused on US economic problems during his one term — high inflation that was worse than the recent price spikes.

But he helped to reshape the US economy more than most presidents, leading to important changes that made it far more competitive.

His administration pursued the antitrust case vs AT&T which led to its break-up early in his successor Ronald Reagan’s administration. That, and the deregulation of telecommunications that followed in the 1990s, helped to lead to technological advances for the US economy, including personal computers and the Internet.

And he passed and signed bills to deregulate both the US airline and trucking industries, which significantly lowered the cost of moving both people and goods, also making the US economy far more competitive.

{I never thought about this:}
But most of the effects of those policies weren’t felt during his one term in office, and thus, most people don’t associate them with Carter.

+1

Trimmed some of the rest for brevity, but, the following I think deserves to be celebrated more:

This is a further update I've pieced together from various news reports:
  • - Gun salutes every 30 minutes today until sundown
    - Flags half-staffed until January 30
    - Sailors from USS Jimmy Carter will be pallbearers for the lying in repose at the Georgia State Capitol on January 6
    - Mail delivery and stock trading will be suspended on January 9, the day of the funeral
    - The National Park Service will take ownership of Carter's house on January 10
    - Probabilistically the next state funeral after Carter -- if calculated by age -- would be Biden (82), then a three-way tie between Trump / Clinton / Bush (78)
He continued to teach Bible as recently as four years ago ---
