This is the kind of question you can look up on the Map Statistics page.xroads wrote:I know classic was obviously #1, but what were the next 9?
Nope, Doodle Earth was 45th, on August 8th, 2007.rockfist wrote:Doodle Earth had to be one of the first I'd think...
That would be cool!xroads wrote:That is so cool, I never knew that tool was there. Now lets integrate map rank into it
well, this belongs in the foundry... but let me get this over with... here is the amazing link that thenobodies did back in 2012:xroads wrote:I know classic was obviously #1, but what were the next 9?

Yeah, I used to do quite a bit of archive prowling. Some fascinating stuff. Sadly, I don't have the kind of free time that I used to.owenshooter wrote:fast posted... good answer... and you should poke around the site more, X... there is a ton of cool stuff like that, which just isn't very clear where/how to find info... when i get bored, i look for new stuff that has existed that i have never even heard of... enjoy!!-Bj

i can see that.. that was back when the site was all over!! we were in the news, we were listed in the top 5 forums on the entire internets, we were raiding conventions, it was glorious... i can see how you would think that if you did not frequent the forums... glad you are learning your cc history, so you don't help repeat the mistakes... *COUGH* surrender button... *COUGH* surrender button... the black jesus has spoken...-Bjxroads wrote:I had assumed the site had been around for a decade when I joined in 2007 as it was crazy busy at the time.

No, I don't. I still have your list of maps from when we were finishing our Cross-map medals, and I also still have your idea for a map based on the human body, but the one about the original maps I don't have.DoomYoshi wrote:The Map Stats page has errors. USA, Classic and Asia were all released day 1. It can't be trusted. I built my own list a long time ago and PMed it to Dukasaur. I doubt he has it.

i wish they would bring back "ART", that was sooo, cool..-BjiAmCaffeine wrote:Classic Shapes / Art.

Wow! You live! Welcome!oaktown wrote:It should be noted that half of those first ten maps - including Classic - have been redone since their release date and resemble the originals in gameplay only.
You should not use the total game played to consider which map is the most popular, since obviously a map created in 2015, even if very popular, have less game played than a map created in 2007.Fewnix wrote:What you will also find from the statistics is that the most popular maps in terms of games played are the old ones. It is not until you get to the 20th most popular map, Baltic Crusades, that you find a map created after 2009 in the top ranking.
20 Baltic Crusades Live 2012-12-16 59 Yes No 102,425 2,238
You should also consider the influence of speed games in those statistic.Fewnix wrote: Classic is of course the most popular having close to 4 million of the over 14 million played, roughly 30%. Then the next 6 most popular maps, ranging from Arms Race at over 300,000 games played to Doodle Earth at almost 800,000 games played ,together account for aver 3 million of the over 14 million played. so the top 7 most popular maps on CC, all created before 2009, account for over 1/2 of the over 14 million games played.
why is it so hard to understand that people flock to that map, because it so closely resembles the original reason we all came here? don't knock it... it is the reason for the site... respect your past, come on... the black jesus has spoken...-BjDoomYoshi wrote:I say subjective because Classic is the worst map but will still probably #1, so any ranking that has it in the top 10 is faulty.
